Doodle Productions Hiring CGI Character Animators - Mids

Location: London

Doodle Productions are looking for 2 Mid Character Animators to join us in-house in our London Studio in October, for the second series of our animated kids TV Series ‘Messy Goes to Okido’.

 Job Description

  • Animate characters and props in scenes as briefed by Series Director and Animation Director

  • Accurately follow all reference material available, including animatics, layout and launch notes

  • Prepare shots for review by Animation Director and Series Director, in a timely fashion prior to deadline

  • Incorporate any retakes and creative or logistical feedback as requested

  • Incorporate any QC or technical fixes as requested

  • Create and publish scenes which meet the technical specifications of the CG Department, to ensure all materials are ready and efficient as possible to use at all stages of the production pipeline

  • Meet the animation quotas and deadlines given by production

Essential Skills

  • Must have minimum a degree in 3D CGI character animation and 3 years industry experience as an animator

  • Strong knowledge of / experience using Maya

  • Demonstrable aptitude for cartoony style animation and accurate lip sync

  • Excellent time management and organisational skills; ability to multitask and work to tight deadlines

  • Excellent communication skills, including proficiency in spoken English

Junior Marketing Analyst

Quality Assurance Engineer

Location: London or Cheltenham

Squint/Opera are looking for a Quality Assurance (QA) engineer to join our expanding technical teams in either London or Cheltenham. This will involve developing and executing exploratory and automated tests to ensure and continuously improve our software delivery process.

Responsibilities include designing and implementing tests, debugging and defining corrective actions across many hardware configurations and platforms. You will also review system requirements and track quality assurance metrics working with our development team to build a level of automation and monitoring to our testing process.

The QA role plays an important part in our company’s current software development and future product process. Our ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting tests before software launches to ensure everything runs smoothly and meets client and user needs, while being cost-effective. If you hold an engineering background and enjoy providing end-to-end solutions to software quality problems, we’d like to meet you.

Ultimately, you should monitor all stages of software development to identify and resolve system malfunctions to meet quality standards.

Animation Production Assistant

Location: London

Doodle Productions is seeking an Animation Production Assistant to join our production team for Messy Goes to Okido Series 2.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Animation Production Manager / Animation Team to ensure clear communication and efficient flow of information across all departments

  • Support Animation Production Manager with arranging briefs and reviews and ensuring that meeting rooms are set up and ready to begin

  • Take notes during briefs and reviews and update tracking system accordingly

  • Support Animation Production Manager with creation and maintenance of tracking documents; setting up episodic shot list templates for 2D and 3D

  • Breakdown 2D episodic assets and graphic sequences

  • Help organise interviews for recruitment when needed

  • Tracking status of shots from ready to start for animation to ready to start for lighting

  • Check shots are published / pending review on time for Director Reviews

  • Tracking progress of all retakes / approving simple non-creative amends

  • Liaise with Animation Team and IT Dept regarding any minor issues to be addressed

  • Support Animation Team with any general queries

  • Prepare reference packages and information for new crew starters as required

  • Prepare Post Production Scripts for delivery

Specific Requirements:

  • Minimum 1 year industry experience on animated productions as runner / intern / production assistant or similar role

  • Excellent oral and written English language communication skills

  • Excellent administrative skills and fastidious nature when it comes to checking your own work

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft office, googledocs and photoshop

  • Good knowledge of animation process and pipelines

  • Good understanding of schedules and importance of deadlines

Senior 3D generalist (moving image 3D)

Location: London

We are looking for an enthusiastic 3D generalist to be part of our London team.


Works with the Creative Director, 3d Leads and Producers to make sure project production process is smooth and shots within budget. Manages the technical aspects of projects, will focus on one large or several small projects at one time so must be flexible and able to prioritise. Work with the Pipeline Developer and Head of 3D to implement change to process and workflow where required.

Pipeline Technical Director

Location: London

At Squint Opera the Pipeline TD is responsible for developing and maintaining the production pipeline, liaising between different departments and providing solutions to technical problems.

The right candidate will be able to increase the overall efficiency of the studio, and contribute to improving the quality of work being done.

This role will see you predominantly partner between various divisions inside of the business, including our Architectural Visualisation, VFX, Interactive and TV production pipelines. This is an en exacting opportunity for the right person to work in a progressive and forward thinking team on how to merge pipelines and provide tools to all our team in a seamless fashion. You will be responsible for really driving innovation across our teams and taking ownership on how best to do this.
