Project Details

Squint/Opera, in collaboration with Droga5, is creating a series of visually stunning campaign films to help launch Qiddiya City – the new capital of entertainment, sports and culture currently being built in Saudi Arabia.

Qiddiya City, at 360 sq km+, covers an area greater than Malta and contains a cornucopia of carefully chosen and integrated world-class venues, facilities, and accommodations for both a domestic and international tourist audience.

This dazzling array of destinations includes a multi-purpose stadium set into the Qiddiya cliffs, an F1-ready 21-corner race track, the first Six Flags theme park to be built outside of North America, and a monumental cultural arts centre.

The motorsports film

This film was utilised in Droga5’s extensive campaign to deliver the vision of City Speed Park and engage millions of viewers across various platforms.

“21 turns doesn’t do it justice at all… If you haven’t seen this on social media, check it out, it’s brilliant.”

David Croft, Sky Sports.

The City Speed Park is a marvel designed by ex-F1 driver Alex Wurz and circuit designer Herman Tilke. It features 21 corners and 108 metres of elevation change.

An elevated first corner, known as the Blade, rises 70 metres above a live concert venue below, while another turn sports a glass-bottomed swimming pool, apparently floating over the track.

Part of the track will run parallel to the Six Flags theme park, which is set to feature the world’s tallest, longest, and fastest rollercoaster.

Qiddiya City

“The Speed Park Track will be a true embodiment of Qiddiya’s power of play philosophy and position Qiddiya City as the home of Saudi motorsport and one of the world’s leading motorsport venues.”

 – Abdullah Aldawood, Managing Director of Qiddiya Investment Company.

“They’re making Rainbow Road IRL.”
