Project Details
“Making The Met, 1870-2020” is the signature exhibition of The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s 150th-anniversary year. We worked alongside The Met to create two films for the exhibition that chronologically explore the architectural history of the iconic New York City building.

The Brief
‘Communicate the significant architectural developments of the past 150 years of The Met Museum.’
Our Response
We created two films that were shown at the beginning and end of the exhibit space. The first film focussing on the period between 1870 to 1950 and the second exploring 1950 to 2020. The creative challenge with both films was to visualise how the galleries have changed and grown over time. We used archive imagery to map out the long-term architectural narrative and 3D animation to bring this story to life.
We worked closely with The Met team to create the films which sit alongside more than 250 superlative works of art. Organised around the transformational moments in the museum’s collection, building and ambitions, the exhibition reveals the defining moments, figures and events that have propelled The Met in new directions since its founding.
